I just got my copy of Omnibus last week, and had I got it 2 weeks earlier I could have officially proclaimed it my 2008 Album of the Year. This music is indeed special.
Joe Lovano has been my favorite tenor player, but with what I'm hearing on Omnibus he may have new company. Bravo! I have already passed recommendations to friends here in Portland, and also in L.A.
By the way, the Portland (OR) Jazz Festival is next month, and I'd love to hear re. Trio gigging with Lovano and Scofield after hours at Jimmy Mak's. Portland would embrace you all.
